¨When I was 16 years old, I was the Prima Ballerina at the Municipal Theatre of São Paulo, and unfortunately I was hit by a car going 60 mi/h while walking. After a week in a coma and several weeks of immobility, I spent months re-learning how to do everyday tasks. I know how difficult it is to recover, both physically and emotionally. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the professionals who guided me through rehabilitation and treatment. This incident was my primary motivation to help others and become a physical therapist.¨
–Virginia Quadrado, DPT, MsC
Treatment plans can meet all needs for those facing rehabilitation after an accident or procedure. Typical orthopaedic conditions include injuries to the knee, shoulder, hip and spine. Orthopaedic rehabilitation is not only focused on the physical therapy sessions, but rather on increasing the quality of life, and efficiently helping the patient regain the ability to perform day-to-day functions.
Treatment plans use modern physical therapy techniques, as well as a wide range of exercise sequences for strength training, stretching, flexibility, coordination and balance.
For orthopaedic treatments, the techniques used include:
- RPG – Rééducation Posturale Globale method
- GDS – Godelive Denys-Struyf method
- Balance and coordination training
- MELT Method
- Strength and Aerobic training protocol from American College of Sports Medicine
The treatment will be provided in the privacy of the home of the patient and adapted to efficiently use the available space. Necessary equipment will be provided by the physical therapist. Using a personal gym or training room will also improve the treatment, if the patient has access to such facilities.
Treatments can be offered as often as needed.
